Presidential Debate Questions For Hillary Clinton

debate-1Tonight is the first Presidential Debate of 2016. A conservative friend of mine from Colorado obviously spent a lot of time compiling the following very thoughtful list of questions that he would like to see the debate moderators ask Hillary Clinton.

He forwarded it to Bret Baier at FoxNews in the hope that he may well have an opportunity before November to pose these questions. I would suggest that each of us forward it to each and every debate moderator including Lester Holt of NBC News who will moderate tonight’s debate.

Presidential Debate Questions For Hillary Clinton.

Moderator: Good evening ladies and gentlemen.

Let’s start the first questions with you Mrs. Clinton.hillary

When you left the White House after your husband’s last term as president, why did you steal $200,000.00 worth of furniture, china, and artwork that you were forced to return?

Mrs. Clinton, when you were Secretary of State, why did you Solicit contributions from foreign governments for the Clinton foundation after you promised President Obama you would not?

Mrs. Clinton, why do you and your husband claim to contribute millions of dollars to charity for a tax write off when it goes to your family foundation that gives out less than 15% of the funds you collect and you use the balance to support yourself tax free?

Mrs. Clinton, why are you unable to account for 6 billion dollars of State department  funds that seem to have disappeared while you were Secretary of State?

Mrs. Clinton, why did you say you were broke when you left the White House, but you purchased a 2 million home, built an addition for the secret service, and charge the tax payers of the Untied States rent in an amount equal to the entire mortgage?

And Mrs. Clinton, how is it that your daughter, Chelsea, can afford to buy a $10.5 million apartment in New York City shortly after you left the White House?

And speaking of Chelsea, how is it that her first paying job, in her late 20’s, was for more than the President of the United States’s salary? Was there a quid pro quo of any sort involved??

Mrs. Clinton why did you lie to the American people about the terrorist attack in Benghazi but managed to tell the truth to your daughter the same night it happened?

Mrs Clinton why did you lose your law license?

Why did your husband lose his?

Mrs Clinton, what really happened to Ron Brown when he was about to testify against you and your husband?

Mrs. Clinton what really happened to Vince Foster?

Take your time to respond Mrs. Clinton.

Van T Barfoot – Beat Both The Nazis & The Local Communists

Personal Note: I believe that Nazism and Communism represented the two biggest treats to personal liberty that free people ever faced. Fortunately, we defeated the Nazis in the 1940s but unfortunately communism still exists and still threatens people around the world. Throughout the USA communism is rampant in the form of the thousands upon thousands of so-called “Homeowners Associations” which subvert the rights of individuals for the “General Good” much like the governments of the Eastern European communist countries did during the Cold War.

The following is the story of one heroic American who fought and defeated not only the Nazis but also his communistic Homeowners Association.

Van T Barfoot

van11

who fought and defeated both the

Nazis and His Communist Homeowners Association

has died…

Remember the guy who wouldn’t take the flag pole down

on his Virginia property a while back?

You might remember the news story several months ago about a crotchety old man in Virginia who defied his local Homeowners Association, and refused to take down the flag pole on  his property along with the large American flag he flew on it.

Now we learn who that old man was.

van1

On June 15, 1919, Van T. Barfoot was born in Edinburg , Texas . That probably didn’t make news back then. But twenty-five years later, on May 23, 1944, near Carano, Italy ,
that same Van T. Barfoot,
who had in 1940 enlisted in the U.S. Army, setout alone to flank German machine gun positions from which gunfire was raining down on his fellow soldiers.

His advance took him through a minefield but having done so, he proceeded to single-handedly take out three enemy machine gun positions, returning with 17 prisoners of war.
van3

And if that weren’t enough for a day’s work, he later took on and destroyed three German tanks sent to retake the machine gun positions

van2

That probably
didn’t make much news either given thescope of the war,

but it did earn

Van T.Barfoot,

who retired as a Colonel after also serving
in Korea and Vietnam, a well deserved

 Congressional Medal of Honor.

van10 (1)

van4 (1)

What did make news…

Was his Neighborhood Homeowners Association’s
quibble with how the 90-year-old
veteran chose
to fly the American flag outside
his suburban
Virginia home.

van8

Seems the HOA rules said it was OK to fly a flag on a house-mounted bracket, but,
for decorum, items such as
Barfoot ‘s   21-foot flagpole were “unsuitable”.

Van Barfoot had been denied a permit for the pole, but erected it anyway and was facing court action unless he agreed to take it down. Then the HOA story made national TV, and the Neighborhood Homeowners Association rethought its position
and agreed to indulge this
aging hero who dwelt among them.

“In the time I have left”, he said to the
Associated Press,

“I plan to continue to fly the American flag without interference.”

van5 (1)As well he should.

And if any of his neighbors had taken a notion to
contest him further, they might have done well to first read his
Medal of Honor citation.

Seems it indicates Mr. Van Barfoot wasn’t particularly good at backing down.

If you got this email and didn’t pass it on – guess what –
you need your butt kicked

WE ONLY LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE!

AND, BECAUSE OF OLD MEN

The Crusty Conservative & his wife launch new website & blog

Dear Readers,

For the past several months, the Crusty Conservative and his wife Pat have been working almost full time to develop a new, separate and additional website.

Starting today the “We Remember Blog”  is up and running.

Published by  Pat and Frank Fleming, this website & blog is a means of sharing our memories about growing up in the 1940’s and 1950s in small town America – a different time and a different place.

Over the years, our kids, the grand kids, and others have suggested that we chronicle some of our memories and share some of our “war stories” about growing up in the 1940s and 1950s. The We Remember Blog” hopefully will allow us to do that in a continually evolving, interactive and fun manner. Additionally, the “We Remember Blog” hopefully will provide a mechanism that will allow other people to sharpen and expand on our recollections by adding memories of their own and telling their war stories along side of ours

Although for context and background, we will have to make available to our readers  a little background info (found in the various appendices to the site) about who we are, where we grew up and about our families, this blog is not intended to be an autobiography. Rather, it is a simple compilation of war stories from another era and a look at things that we still remember from growing up in the 1940s and 1950s – things, places, experiences  and people who are no longer here or at least no longer easily remembered.

Hopefully, as we publish this material our younger readers will be moved to ask questions about those memories and our older readers will be moved to refresh our memories, add their own memories and share stories about the life and times in which they grew up.

Whatever your age, please contribute and make the “We Remember Blog” a piece of living history using the comment box provided in each post to “comment”, ask questions, or add your own memories and “War Stories” to this blog. You may also contact us at patandfrankfleming@msn.com

The Crusty Conservative’s Ongoing Commentary re the 2014 Winter Olympics

Snoring Your Way to A Gold Medal –cross country

With all due respect to cross-country skiers and fans of this sport,I have to try my best to stay awake during the competition. This week while watching some of the cross-country skiing events at the Sochi Olympics, I found myself either dosing off or eagerly awaiting the next commercial for some excitement. While this sport, I am sure, is exciting for the participants and requires great skill and physical effort, please forgive me if I say that “Cross Country Skiing is not quite ready for Prime Time”.

“Don’t Do As I Do – Do As I Say” –

Russian Figure Skating Coach

Russian Figure Skating Coach

Russia is famous for its great, well coached figure skaters and so far that tradition continues into the 2014 Olympics. However, watching the Russian coaches after the early events  greeting and congratulating their skaters as they returned  from their performances , it is very obvious that the coaches do not lead by example. Can you imagine one of these coaches actually physically demonstrating how to do a “toe lift” , a “triple axel”, a “salchow” or a “death spiral”? I don’t think so.

Rather they obviously all coach by the old adage which obviously works – “Don’t Do As I Do – Do As I Say”

 OPENING CEREMONY –

I finally got to watch the Olympics’ Opening Ceremonies last night via TVO. I thought that it was spectacular and don’t remember ever seeing anything quite

like it.All weekend I heard the press reporting on the electronic snowflake that did not morph into the 5th Olympic ring during the ceremony. Get a life – that one electronic glitch did not in any way detract from a spectacular ceremony and pageant. It was like having the press complain about a burnt out street light in a night picture of New York City from outer space.

  • LIKE A BAD CHRISTMAS GIFT – The US Olympic Committee and designer Ralph Lauren once again joined forces to design parade uniforms for the 2014 US Winter Olympic Team. Like the uniforms that Lauren designed for the 2012 Summer Games, that looked like a something that a socialite would wear to a 1920s lawn party, this year’s uniforms look like the proverbial Christmas gift sweater – so tasteless that its only use is as drawer lining

  • Why does NBC have sports anchor Bob Costas dressing in a suit and tie every night while hosting the winter olympics? The poor guy who is already uncomfortable, because he must wear his costasglasses vs. contacts because of an eye infection, looks not only uncomfortable but grossly out of place hosting this sporting event in a full suit and tie. He would look much more appropriate and more comfortable in ski sweater and slacks or anything more casual. NBC – please give the guy a break. He is not covering a dignitary’s funeral, a formal social event or a State of the Union speech. It is a casual sporting event. Loosen up and stop taking yourself and the event so seriously.

Tiger Woods Continues His Cheating Streak at the Masters.

Proving once again that basic character flaws are difficult, if not impossible, to correct. A proven serial philander, Tiger Woods took his cheating heart to the Masters golf tournament in Augusta this week where he was assessed a two hole penalty for a major rules infraction and did not have the have the character or integrity to voluntarily disqualify himself.

“Your Cheating Heart”

Two Great “Ladies” Die – Thatcher & Funicello

Yesterday – April 8 2013 – the world lost two great “Ladies” Margaret Thatcher and Annette Funicello.

Lady Margaret Thatcher

Lady Margaret Thatcher

Neither Pat nor I ever met Margaret Thatcher but we both admired her as a partner of  Ronald Reagan in the defeat of communism and as a leader of the free world.  Although not a crusty conservative, she was a true conservative. While the world remembers her as the “Iron Lady’, the “Crusty Conservative” will always remember her and refer to her as the “Iron Conservative” because of her strong, iron like dedication to conservative principles. But, she was and always will be a “Lady”.

Pat and I, however did know and loved Annette initially from a distance and later as a very pleasant dinner partner. In the mid to late 50s, every student

Lady Annette Funicello

Lady Annette Funicello

at Villanova University, where we were both students, was in love with Annette. Every afternoon at 5 PM, hundreds of students would put on Mouseketeer hats and crowd into the campus snack shop to watch the Mickey Mouse Club and sing along with our favorite Mouseketeer – Annette  “M I C…K E Y MOUSE….”  I can still picture Don Luzzi, the huge Captain of our football team, standing at attention, Mouseketeer hat on his head, hand over his heart, joining the Mouseketters on the TV in singing the Mickey Mouse Club Anthem. As time passed, we then watched Annette as a teenager in the Beach Party movies with Frankie Avalon and then come into our living rooms as a wholesome young mother selling wholesome peanut butter in TV commercials.

Many years later, Pat and I had the opportunity to accidently share adjoining tables, dinner, a few laughs and a great conversation with Annette and her husband at the Valley Inn Restaurant in Los Angeles. We, of course, knew who she was. And she knew that we knew. But none of us let on. We just had a simple, fun conversation among two couples who had common interests. In person, Annette the former teenage heart throb,  had become a very, very nice “Lady” in every sense of the word.

May both “Lady Thatcher” and “Lady Funicello” rest in peace and be always remembered for all of the good things that they contributed to the world.

S.P.C.A. – The Society for the Prevention of Cruelity to Athletes

Former Rutgers Coach Mike Rice exercised tough discipline

S.P.C. A. – the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Athletes

In light of the recent firing of Rutgers’ basketball coach Mike Rice for treating his players like a Marine Drill Sergeant would treat his recruits instead of treating them like the prima donnas that they are, “The Crusty Conservative” today is encouraging the immediate establishment of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Athletes (S.P.C. A.) to protect student athletes.

Coach Bob Knight employed tough discipline to lead the Indiana Hoosiers to several National Championships & the 1984 Olympic basketball team to GOLD

“The Crusty Conservative” suggests that the proposed S.P.C. A. would be a national organization with chapters on every college campus in the country. It would be dedicated to insuring that college athletes are treated as prima donnas rather than as mature men and women who are playing tough, highly competitive sports in which baiting of opponents, foul language, and physical contact are everyday occurrences.

Local chapters of the Society For The Prevention of Cruelty To Athletes would monitor and video tape all college sporting events including practices for the use of cruel language, back slapping, “in your face” lectures or any other actions by coaches that could be deemed rude, offensive or not gentlemanly. These video tapes would be regularly reviewed by a panel of art students and student poets who would have the power to discipline coaches for any conduct that they determine would be injurious to the mental or physical health of any player.

“ In light of the past rants and chair throwing incidents by former Indiana Coach Bobby Knight and Mike Rice’s recent cruel behavior towards his players, the establishment of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Athletes (S.P.C.A.) is not only necessary but long overdue” according to “The Crusty Conservative”.  “Animals are not the only ones subjected to cruelty and abuse, athletes likewise are subjected to the same and deserve the same protection as animals” he added.

Best Wishes to Pope Frank

Pope Frank

Pope Frank

Sincere congratulations and best wishes to Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergolio on his election to the Papacy. He is the first Pope from the Americas and the first to adopt “The Crusty Conservative’s” christian name Francis as his Papal Name.  I am honored.  However, with no disrespect intended, since Francis – “The Crusty Conservative”- is primarily known as Frank, , I prefer to call the new Pontiff “Pope Frank”.

May “Pope Frank” have a long, successful and very conservative reign.
